SUPPORT THAT BECOMES PART OF YOUR SCHOOL

BYND provides flexible, relationship-led mentoring and therapeutic support for children and young people aged 5–18.

We work across primary, secondary and special schools, alternative provision, care settings and local-authority commissioned services — supporting everything from early confidence-building and social skills through to behaviour, attendance, reintegration, emotional wellbeing and more complex barriers to education.

Our aim is simple: intervene early, build transferable skills and give schools dependable support before problems escalate.

EARLY SUPPORT. LOW THRESHOLD. NO NEED TO WAIT FOR CRISIS.

Schools should not have to wait until a young person has accumulated months of evidence, exhausted every internal intervention or reached crisis point before support becomes available.

Under a BYND school partnership, referrals can be made as soon as a need is identified.

That might be a Year 5 pupil who needs confidence ahead of transition, a young person struggling socially, or a pupil whose attendance, behaviour or engagement is becoming increasingly difficult.

If your school believes support would help, we can start the conversation.

BUILT AROUND THE YOUNG PERSON

There is no fixed BYND programme.

Support normally takes place weekly, with sessions typically lasting up to the therapeutic hour and shaped around the age, needs and engagement of the individual young person.

Some pupils need shorter, lighter-touch work. Others benefit from support across school, home or community settings.

We agree outcomes with the adults around the young person, listen to what the young person themselves believes they need, and build a bespoke intervention around both.

Most importantly, we focus on transferable change — skills that can be used back in the classroom, at home and in everyday life.

PART OF THE TEAM — NOT JUST A VISITOR

BYND is designed to become part of the support around your school.

With regular weekly presence, we get to know your pupils, staff, systems and priorities. Where useful, we can contribute to pastoral discussions, professional meetings, SEND reviews and planning around individual pupils.

That continuity means schools aren't repeatedly starting from scratch with a new external worker.

You know who is coming in. We know your school. And the relationship has time to work.

BYND isn't another service coming in and out of your school. We become part of the support around it.

TWO WAYS TO WORK WITH BYND:

1. Annual School Partnership

Reserved capacity for your school, all year round.

A BYND school partnership provides a set number of active spaces for a minimum 12-month period.

One space represents one young person receiving regular weekly support.

For example, a school with five spaces can have five young people actively supported at any one time.

When an intervention ends or is paused, the space can be immediately reassigned to another pupil.

There is no need to purchase another block of sessions or start a new commissioning process each time.

Five spaces doesn't mean five young people per year. It means up to five young people at any one time.

Young people can also return to the service later if new needs emerge. BYND does not impose a “one intervention and you're finished” model.

As work approaches completion, schools are normally given around three to four weeks' notice, allowing the next referral to be prepared and minimising unused capacity.

For partnership schools, the typical turnaround from completed referral to first contact is within around one week, subject to consent and practical arrangements.

More than mentoring. A partner in your pastoral team.
More support. More flexibility. Better value.

Use the spaces when you need them. Reassign them when you don’t.
Real work. Real progress. Real evidence.

2. Bespoke Commissioned Work

For schools, local authorities and other organisations that do not require ongoing capacity, BYND can provide a defined piece of work with clear objectives, timescales and outcomes.

This is typically commissioned as a 6- or 12-session intervention, although the structure can be adapted depending on need.

Bespoke work can support:

Confidence and self-belief
Behaviour and engagement
Emotional wellbeing
Attendance and reintegration
Social skills and relationships
Transition support
A specific period of difficulty or change

Each intervention starts with a clear referral and agreed outcomes. We then work directly with the young person, adapting the sessions around their needs, interests and level of engagement.

Where appropriate, support can take place in school, at home or in the community.

Progress is reviewed throughout the work and a clear end-of-intervention summary can be provided, helping schools and commissioners understand what has been achieved and what may be needed next.

Bespoke work is particularly useful where you need:

A defined intervention.
A clear start and end point.
Flexible support without a long-term commitment.

Focused support.  Clear outcomes.  No commitment.
A defined piece of work, built around the young person.

SAFEGUARDING AT THE HEART OF PRACTICE

BYND works in line with current safeguarding expectations for organisations supporting children and young people.

Our approach is built around safer recruitment, appropriate DBS and barred-list checks where required, safeguarding training, clear safeguarding leadership and prompt information sharing where there are concerns about a child.

Safer recruitment procedures
Appropriate Enhanced DBS and Children’s Barred List checks
Safeguarding-trained practitioners
Designated Safeguarding Lead arrangements
Clear reporting and escalation procedures
Professional insurance
Formal referral, consent and information-sharing processes

Safeguarding information is shared appropriately and without unnecessary delay where this is necessary to protect or support a child.

Additional compliance documents, insurance certificates and due-diligence information are available to commissioning schools on request.
