WHAT TO EXPECT FROM BYND
You don’t have to have everything figured out before we meet you.
BYND is here to listen, understand what’s going on and work with you at a pace that feels manageable. There’s no fixed programme and no expectation that every session looks the same.

FOR YOUNG PEOPLE
ou don’t have to tell us everything when we first meet.
We’ll spend some time getting to know each other, and you’ll get to know us too.

Everyone at BYND is different. We come from different backgrounds, have different interests and different life experiences — so we’re not expecting you to be a certain way either.
Sometimes we might sit and talk. Sometimes we might get out for a walk, do something practical, work through something together or just have a catch-up.

It’s a space where you can talk about what matters to you, have your voice heard and have someone in your corner.
We’re not here to judge you or lecture you.
We’re here to listen, get to know you and work alongside you.
Â
There might be a few things we’ve been asked to help you with, but how we get there is something we can work out together.
That could mean talking about school, confidence, friendships, family, your future or something else that’s important to you.

There’s no pressure to have all the answers. We’ll take it one step at a time.

FOR FAMILIES & CARERS
No one knows your child quite like you do.

You know what makes them laugh, what shuts them down, what they worry about, what they find difficult and what helps them feel safe. You’ve probably also spent a lot of time wondering how best to support them, asking questions, speaking to school and trying to find the right help.

We understand that can be exhausting.
At BYND, we don’t see families as separate from the support. We see you as an important part of it.

We’ll take time to listen to what you’ve noticed, what you’re worried about and what you feel your child needs. Where appropriate, we’ll work alongside you and the school so everyone has a clearer understanding of what might help.

At the same time, we know that young people need space to build trust with the person supporting them. We’ll always try to balance that trust with keeping parents and carers appropriately informed and involved.
The aim is simple: to work together around the young person, not make decisions around them.

And if things change, the support can change too. Young people grow, circumstances move on and sometimes what they need looks different a few months down the line.
